The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education is issuing a consumer alert about fake GED tests.  The notice relates to fraudulent websites claiming to offer high school and GED diplomas for a fee through the internet. Reecie Stagnolia is vice president for Adult Education in Kentucky.  He says there’s only one way to earn a GED and that’s through a state-administered test that’s given onsite at an official GED testing center.  He adds legitimate GED exams are not available online.

“These individuals are sometimes captivated by the quick fix that’s offered by these websites of obtaining a high school diploma or GED,” Stagnolia said.

The state has set up an online repository where educators and test-takers will find a list of fraudulent websites, information about how to determine legitimate accreditation and an area to report suspected fraud.
