Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned PTI MPA in KPK Faisal Zaman in the fake degree case today (Monday). According to the details Faisal Zaman had contested election for the provincial assembly from the constituency PK-52 Ghazi district Hari Pur on the ticket of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and declared as returned candidate.
He defeated PML-N’s provincial president and former chief minister Pir Sabir Shah but Pir Sabir challenged the legitimacy of Zaman’s graduation degree on the basis of which he had won the 2002 election and again contested 2008 election on PML-Q ticket.
Faisal Zaman had attached a degree of his graduation with his nomination papers, which he obtained from Ahmdo Belo University Nigeria where his company had been doing business for decades.
On the report of Higher Education Commission, Election Commission declared the degree of Faisal Zaman suspicious, after which it referred the matter to District and Sessions Judge Haripur for investigation. Supreme Court had also taken suo motu action on an application submitted by two citizens of his constituency against Faisal Zaman, terming his degree fake but when the Supreme Court was informed that the same case was under trial in the Election Commission.
Supreme Court adjourned its hearing with a direction to election commission for completion of its process before next date of hearing in the Supreme Court. The Election Commission has submitted its report to Supreme Court regarding its decision. Now the Supreme Court while issuing a show cause notice to Faisal Zaman has summoned him today(Monday). On other hand, the defeated candidate Pir Sabar Shah is looking very optimistic for winning the appeal in the hope of giving his constituency another opportunity to vote in the by-polls.
