CID seizes 70 fake degrees, certificates

The CID on Friday made a major breakthrough in the fake degree racket which was detected in November 2014. The team seized 70 certificates and degrees of various universities after five persons, who were arrested in the case, revealed during interrogation, CID officials said. They also said the gang had a network throughout the country.

The seized certificates and degrees were related to Class-12, BSC, B Com, M Com, MBA, M Tech, PGDCA, PhD, BCA, B Tech, BBA and some other courses, the officials added.

These certificates were issued in the name of SunRise University of Rajasthan, Manav Bharati University Himanchal Pradesh, State Open University of Madhya Pradesh, EIILM University of Sikkim, Baraktullah University of Bhopal, RGPV Bhopal, CMG University Meghalaya, Bundhelkhand University, DAVV Indore, Shridhar University Rajasthan, Mohali Board, Karnataka Board and Chhattisgarh Board.

The gang also issued certificates and degrees of those courses which were not even run by the universities in whose names the documents were issued, the officials said. The CID team has so far arrested five persons belonging to the gang, they said.

The team busted the gang on November 27 when Manju Rathore, 28, a resident of Dewas was held for using fake documents for getting recruited to the post of stenographer-cum-assistant sub-inspector in state police.

The team then caught three persons Kishore Choudhary, Mohan Jat and Sangita Sharma, the officials said.
