A corrupt broker has finally been jailed for his involvement in the sale of thousands of fake documents.
A broker sold thousands of forged documents, including construction certificates, has been thrown behind bars following his arrest by NCA officers in October last year.
The broker, Medi Krasniqi, 47, of Corbyn Street, Finsbury Park, and his partner in crime, Arsen Meci, 26, of Western Road, East Finchley, were imprisoned after admitting charges of conspiring to create fake identity documents, possession of fake ID and money laundering.
Commenting on the convictions, Carl Eade, Senior Investigating Officer from the NCA, said: “These documents were designed to be used to help people obtain work or services they weren’t qualified for or entitled to. Their clients would typically include criminals and people in the UK illegally.”
Yesterday, Mr Krasniqi was jailed for five and a half years at Chelmsford Crown Court, and Mr Meci was jailed for six and a half years and also faces deportation following his sentence.
Mr Meci created the fake documents from his East Finchley home on Western Road, where authorities understand that clients were charged up to £500 for the production of the bogus documents intended for use within the construction industries.
However, during one handover, which was being watched by NCA surveillance officers, investigators jumped in and arrested the duo.
Officers also uncovered the duo’s “forgery factory” at Mr Meci’s home, fit with laminators, printing equipment and computer- where more than 8,000 images and templates for a range of fake documents, including construction certifications, were found.
Krasniqi and Meci are two members of a wider north-London based criminal network to be jailed. The three-year investigation resulted in totalling in 68 years of jail sentences.
