A civilian intelligence agency has conducted an operation against a gang for issuing fake identification documents to Afghan nationals, suspected to be involved in terrorist and criminal activities in Pakistan.
Police and intelligence sources confirmed that a number of miscreants have also been taken into custody along with those involved in issuing fake documents to such anti-state elements.Thousands of such fake documents have already been issued by this gang whereas thousands of these documents alongwith sensitive equipment used to prepare these fake documents have been recovered.
The operation was conducted with the help of Rawalpindi police. According to sources the gang was working in the garb of an NGO in the basement of a building in Rawalpindi. Its documents helped Afghans in crossing the border and freely moving in the country. There are strong indications of involvement of foreign hands in the activity. Further investigations are underway.
