Peshawar High Court (PHC) set aside the orders of the University of Peshawar (UoP) which refrained MPA Atifur Rehman Khalil from contesting the general elections.
The UoP administration refrained Khalil from competing in the general elections for four years in 2007 after his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree was declared fake. It also imposed a penalty of Rs21,000 over allegations that the MPA sought someone else’s help while solving his BA examination papers. Justice Asadullah Khan Chamkani set aside the UoP orders of 2007 and asked the UoP examination controller to submit the relevant record at the next hearing.
