Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Ayla Malik on Friday challenged the Election Tribunal decision of declaring her degree fake in Lahore High Court (LHC).

The PTI leader in her petition contented that she passed the intermediate examination on December 16, 1989 from Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, but board declared her degree fake over the political pressure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government hence she should be permitted to contest election.

The court, accepting the petition for hearing, issued notices to Election Tribunal and Election Commission (ECP).

Ayla was the PTI candidate for NA-71 (Mianwali) in by-election but she had been disqualified from contesting election for holding fake degree in July last year. Her certificate had been challenged by PML-N’s Obaidullah Shadikhel in the Lahore High Court’s election Tribunal Bench, which ordered BISC Rawalpindi to pore over her degree.

The board in its reply submitted to Election Tribunal had stated that no record of her intermediate certificate was found and the role number Ayla’s certificate carries is actually of a male candidate named Imdad Hussain.

In January, Ayla had also filed case against BISE Rawalpindi chairman and controller examination in a civil court. The board, in its rejoinder submitted to the court, reiterated that no record of her certificate was found.
