The Chatushrungi police on Monday arrested a couple from Nanded for allegedly submitting fake documents to get admission into Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (Yashada).
The suspects Vidya Ramesh Dhumal (24) and her husband Shivraj Madhukar Patil (32) are from Ganeshnagar in Nanded. Patil runs a medical shop. They were produced before the court on Tuesday and remanded to police custody for seven days.
S N Bhoite, sub-inspector of the Chatushrungi police station told TOI, “The suspects revealed that they prepared fake documents so that the woman could get admission into Yashada and use the library facility there.”
An officer from Yashada on condition of anonymity told TOI that the incident came to light on Monday, when the couple came to Yashada with the fake documents. “The woman submitted the documents with the forged signature of the state governor. They had also submitted a fake letter from an official from the rural development and water conservation department in Mumbai,” the officer said.
He said that when the woman’s documents were sent to Mumbai for verification, it was revealed that the documents were forged. “Our deputy registrar Yogesh Bhosale lodged the complaint against the woman,” the officer said.
Sub-inspector Bhoite said that the investigations so far have revealed that the woman is pursuing her Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam and wanted to use the library facility at Yashada. “We are investigating from where the couple prepared the fake documents,” Bhoite said.
