Delhi Police has now detected a fraudulent admission in Delhi University’s Hindu College for last year. The college has been served a notice to submit documents pertaining to this admission, a source said.
In what comes across as sheer callousness on the part of college authorities, TOI has learnt the photograph on the admission form is of Arvind Yadav, the kingpin of the racket, and the address is of Mukesh Maan, a Venkateswara College student and a member of the gang. Both are already in police custody.
Additional CP (crime) Ashok Chand confirmed the development but refused to divulge details. “The probe is at an initial stage. We have formed a special team led by ACP KPS Malhotra”. At present, the Hindu College student is untraceable and a team has been sent to his address, an officer said. It is still not clear whether he obtained admission on a forged marksheet or disability certificate. The cops said they would scrutinize the documents to corroborate details.
Till now, as many as 13 cases have been detected in Sri Venkateswara College and one in ARSD. The number of admissions on fake documents has gone up to 15 with this case. TOI had first reported about the racket being prevalent in ARSD College and the possible role of DU officials.
“Three people have been arrested so far?Arvind Yadav (28), a Hindu College graduate and a resident of Gurgaon, Mukesh Maan (19) from Gurgaon and Daya Ram (36) from Bulandshahr,” DCP (crime) Bhisham Singh said.
Maan is a second-year Venky student who had got admission last year through fake documents and later became a gang member . Daya Ram was a teacher at a private school in Bulandshahr and joined the gang to make a fast buck. He arranged the forged documents for students, cops said.
The investigations into the case have highlighted how the loopholes in the admission and verification system of the university and the UP examination board were exploited by Daya Ram. Most of the forged marksheets have been found to be of the UP board. The gang demanded anything between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for an admission.
