The investigation of a fake degree case of Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, by Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has gone to the backburner after the transfer of Deputy Director (Adm) Naveed Shehzad Mirza who was leading the two-member inquiry team.

According to sources, Naveed Shehzad Mirza has been transferred and posted as Additional District Collector Silakot, a few days back and no one was appointed in his place till to continue the investigation along with Deputy Director Technical.

The investigation team led by Naveed Shehzad had summoned the Vice Chancellor Punjab University to explain his position in connection with the case. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had recently allowed the inquiry team to summon the VC as the team had already recorded statements of other accused persons including Abdul Qadir Gilani.

Presiding over a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education at Punjab University (PU) here on Monday he also stressed the need of allocating at least 4 percent of GDP to education and to promote research culture at universities.The members of the Senate Standing Committee on Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education also endorsed it. The meeting was informed that the federal government was working on establishment of the National Curriculum Council in order to ensure a national curriculum.
