Man with fake arms licence nabbed

The city crime branch have arrested a 34-year-old man who had allegedly procured a fake arms’ license and based on it he also allegedly procured a revolver from a government factory.

Santosh Mishra, a resident of Andheri was caught by crime branch unit 9 after a run of two years. Mishra has been booked under various IPC sections of cheating, forgery, breach of trust and Arms Act. Mishra has been remanded to police custody till June 24.

According to the police, in 2010, crime branch unit 9 (Bandra) received a tip off that Mishra who is working as a senior security officer with a security firm was moving with a weapon procured using fake documents. Police summoned him and seized his weapon and sent the weapon for ballistic testing.”During the probe, it was discovered that the weapon was procured from a government-run factory in Nashik and the scrutiny of his documents police revealed that his documents were fake and immediately after this he disappeared,” Sanjay Satadekar, senior inspector said.

On Tuesday police received a tip off that he has returned home. It is then that the police arrested him.
