The district administration has suspended from service 25 educators recruited on fake degrees in 2010, and recommended the Punjab secretary education to take stern action against two district officers allegedly involved in the recruitment scam.
The district administration had recruited as 1,488 educators in Sialkot district during 2010 and after the recruitment it came into its notice that several teachers were recruited on fake academic degrees.
The Punjab government had taken serious notice and ordered probe into the issue. The special probing teams conducted scrutiny under the supervision of District Monitoring Officer Amir Raza and found their degrees fake.
The DMO told newsmen that the degrees of 1,096 out of total 1,488 educators had been verified while the scrutiny of other 359 degrees was still underway.
The administration has recommended legal and departmental action against DOs Muhammad Saleem Bhatti and Mrs Zareena, members of the then selection committee, for their corruption, malpractice and their direct or indirect involvement in the scam. Meanwhile, Anti Corruption Establishment has also started probe into the scam.
